Nutrition is about eating a healthy and balanced diet especially as we get older. Good nutrition and hydration can prevent illnesses and disease, remove toxins from your body, strengthen your immune system, boost your energy levels, improve your mental wellbeing and reduce muscle loss. We appreciate that sometimes your appetite can wane, you lose interest in making meals especially if you are living alone or do not have the energy to prepare meals. We can help support you with this.
Food is often best enjoyed in the company of others, please talk to your Wellbeing Warden about Evergreen opportunities to socialise and eat with others, even if only on special celebratory occasions.
We can help you create your shopping list, and discuss with you your food and meal preferences and favourite choices. We can also help you prepare and cook a meal with you or even accompany you to your favourite restaurant. You might want us to pop in at each meal time or just once a day, whichever works best for you. Together we can ensure you have a healthy and balanced diet that you enjoy and look forward to. Our Wellbeing Wardens will also be prompting you to drink plenty of water as staying hydrated is so important as we age, and will help reduce the risk of urinary tract and chest infections. They will provide you with a Cheers water chart for your fridge to monitor how well you are drinking water if you would like one.
