Our Trustees

Trustees at Evergreen Care Trust play a vital role in guiding the charity’s mission to the support older community in Stamford and the surrounding areas. As volunteers, they are responsible for overseeing the governance, financial health, and strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring that all activities align with Evergreen’s values and legal responsibilities. Trustees work closely with the CEO and leadership team, offering accountability, encouragement, and practical guidance to help the charity thrive. Their responsibilities include setting long-term goals, managing risk, ensuring compliance with charity regulations, and acting as ambassadors within the local community. No prior experience is necessary—just a heart for the elderly, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to Evergreen’s Christian ethos. Whether offering professional skills or simply a desire to serve, trustees make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we care for.

She is involved with many local charities in Stamford and has a particular interest in supporting children with special educational needs. She is a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire and a governor for Stamford Endowed Schools. Miranda is a resolute supporter of the work of the Evergreen Care Trust.

Roland Higgins - Trustee

Roland came to Stamford in 2016 to be closer to his family.  He and his wife quickly became involved as volunteers with Evergreen, firstly as Befrienders and then as helpers in various fundraising events and social groups.  In 2022 he did a sponsored bike ride from Stamford to Norwich to raise funds for Evergreen. Roland joined the Board of Trustees early 2024.

Roland started his working life in the commercial sector and has held senior management roles in the bus industry.  From there he moved into the voluntary sector working for Mencap in its residential  and family support services. His last role was manager of a disability charity in West Sussex.

Included in the list of Roland's interests are: historic houses and buildings, railway history, cycling, gardening, an eclectic range of music, and travel.

Paul Herniman - Trustee

Paul joined the Board of Trustees two years ago. He lives in Stamford and retired in 2018 after working for Social Services for over thirty years. Paul's areas of special interest include working with older people, mental health and dementia.

Jo Peck - Trustee

Having gained a BSc(Hons) in Land Management from Reading University, the majority of Jo's career has been in sales & marketing within the hospitality industry, though more recently she spent three and a half years in fundraising within the education sector. Jo now works in sales for an event production company and spends time outside of that with her two children and their yellow labrador as well as running, generally keeping fit and spending time with friends and family. Jo is also involved with ShopStamford and Stamford Rugby Club, having always played a proactive part in local community and fundraising initiatives.

Do you want to be a Trustee?

Becoming a trustee at Evergreen Care Trust is a rewarding way to make a real difference in your community. If you have a heart for the elderly, share our Christian values, and want to contribute your time and experience to a cause that matters, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you have skills in finance, governance, HR, fundraising, or simply a passion for supporting others, your input can help shape the future of our work. Trustees meet regularly throughout the year and support the leadership team in a voluntary, non-executive role. Full training and support are provided—what matters most is your commitment and willingness to serve.
