Current Vacancies

Social Engagement Lead

Overview
As a Social Engagement Lead, your role at Evergreen Care Trust will be to promote our services and develop opportunities for social engagement, focusing on reducing loneliness and social isolation for older people.


Hourly Rate: £14.09
Hours: 8 per week

Reporting to: Volunteer Services Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee, support and develop Evergreen's successful Friends Together Group which meets on a Monday and Thursday afternoon, alongside the volunteers who run the group.
  • To be involved with our monthly Evergreen and Birth Tree Friendship Lunch.
  • To engage with community partners such as schools, colleges, churches, local authorities to promote Evergreen services and to develop new projects that provide social engagement opportunities for older people.
  • To support Evergreen events, such as annual member tea parties.
  • To attend monthly All Leads Meetings on the first Monday of each month (excluding public holidays) 
  • To understand your role and work within legislatively required and professional boundaries
  • To undertake all other duties as reasonably requested or required of you for the complete fulfilment of the role.


What we're looking for:

  • Have experience in people services or volunteering, or in a similar role with transferable skills and experience.
  • Have a strong understanding of the needs of and challenges facing older people.
  • Experience of running and organising social events.
  • Be able to use own initiative and apply their skills and knowledge to the requirements
  • of the role.

Care Services Supervisor

Overview
As a Care Services Supervisor, your role at Evergreen Care Trust will be to provide structure, support, training and mentoring to the frontline home worker team who seek to deliver the highest standards of care and support to our members.

 It is the role of the supervisor to ensure that new and existing staff are fully supported in their roles, encouraged to be the best they can be in the delivery of the service and held to account for their care practice and delivery. It is essential in this position that the holder understands and ensures that team understands the organisational values to embed and evidence this across working and care relationships.


Hourly Rate: £16.04
Hours: 30 per week

Reporting to: Care Supervises Clerk, Home Support Workers


Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee and supervise a team of Care staff delivering high quality care, to our older and often vulnerable member group, their families and carers
  • To ensure the wellbeing, professional development, support and training of new and existing care staff through professional relationships, supervision and appraisal.
  • To respond to referrals, assessments and care planning for members, their families and carers
  • To welcome new members on board, ensuring that they are well informed, understand the assessment process and plan, regular reviews and how to raise any concerns or grievances.
  • Ensure regular review, actions taken, accurate record keeping and adherence to policies and procedures that are designed to give high standard, quality care and support.
  • To carry out appropriate risk assessment and management for each individual member, with the creation of bespoke care plans, this should always be done with member participation.
  • To follow our in-house induction for new staff members and provide training in the workplace, introducing new staff to the care team & members, follow up engagement with service and staff.
  • To provide ongoing support and guidance to new staff members, delivering the very best in training, coaching or mentoring and accountability
  • To ensure care plans, and member records are up to date and relevant on our data system.
  • To assist with rota planning, timesheets, recording holidays and sickness and staff queries/support
  • To liaise regularly with members, their families and other allied or medical professionals.
  • To understand your role and work within legislatively required and professional boundaries
  • To undertake all other duties as reasonably requested or required of you for the complete fulfilment of the role.


What we're looking for:

  • Be flexible and adaptable, to meet demand of the service.
  • Be able to use own initiative, and apply their skills and knowledge to the requirements of the role

  • Have a good understanding of and have worked within a Care provision with recent
  • practical experience of this.

Qualifications

  • Essential - as a minimum, NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or be working towards or committed to undertake this)
  • Desired - train the trainer qualification or be prepared to complete this
  • Essential - hold a valid UK driving licence, use of a road worthy vehicle and prepared to insure vehicle for business use in your role.

Home Support Worker

 

Overview

As a Home Support Assistant at Evergreen Care Trust, your role will be to provide high-quality domestic assistance and companionship to elderly and vulnerable individuals in their own homes. This person-centred support promotes independence and enhances quality of life.


Hourly Rate: £12.21
Part-Time Hours: 5-30 per week


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver domestic support including cleaning, laundry, food preparation, and shopping.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to clients.
  • Provide respite care and pop-in visits as needed.
  • Work closely with service users and their families in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Follow Health and Social Care legislation and internal guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and respectful communication and service delivery.
     

What we're looking for:

  • Experience supporting older or vulnerable people is beneficial but not essential – full training provided.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Professionalism, empathy, and commitment to high-quality care.
  • Reliable with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow with support for personal development.

Qualifications: 

  • A valid driving licence is required.
  • Ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Stamford, Lincolnshire.
  • Subject to a standard DBS check.

Volunteer Roles

Honorary Secretary to the Board

Overview:

Evergreen Care Trust is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Secretary to help ensure the smooth operation of our Board of Trustees. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in supporting our mission and helping the charity run effectively. If you have a knack for organisation, a keen eye for detail, and enjoy working with others toward a meaningful cause, we’d love to hear from you.


As Secretary, you’ll work closely with the Chair to coordinate monthly trustee meetings, prepare agendas, take and circulate minutes, track action points, and ensure key documents are filed appropriately. You'll also assist with our annual open meeting and any special meetings, keep membership records up to date, and help ensure our compliance with Charity Commission requirements.


We’re looking for someone with experience in committee work, excellent minute-taking and communication skills, and a warm, approachable manner. You’ll need to be fair and impartial, sensitive to others, and able to work collaboratively with Trustees, staff, and volunteers. Strong organisational skills and punctuality are a must.


Commitment Level:

One monthly Trustee’s meeting (usually 3:00pm – 5.00pm on the third Thursday of the month). Follow up actions. Overall time commitment circa 5 hours per month.

Chaplaincy & Listening Lead

Overview:

The Chaplaincy & Listening Service at Evergreen offers a welcoming, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for anyone seeking pastoral support. Rooted in confidentiality, the service is open to individuals of all faiths, those with no faith, and those exploring spiritual connections. It provides sensitive care tailored to individual needs and serves Evergreen personnel—including staff, volunteers, members (service-users), and their families.


By fostering understanding and emotional support, the service also facilitates signposting to other faith-based or secular support networks where appropriate. Its mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has someone to talk to when navigating life’s challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Overseeing and supporting a small team of pastoral care workers and Listeners.
  • Allocating and supervising referrals to the team.
  • Ensuring adequate records are kept and inputted on to our secure data programme.
  • Monitoring training needs and supervision sessions with Spiritual Director.
  • When able, to attend monthly ‘ALL Leads’ team meeting.  


Training & Support Required:

  

  • Evergreen Induction Training (half day Saturday)
  • Mandatory Online Safeguarding training
  • Introduction session to the role of a Chaplaincy & Listening Volunteer
  • Shadow an existing Chaplaincy & Listening Volunteer
  • Regular updates and support from Spiritual Director
  • Invitation to attend relevant training courses as and when they are arranged

Prayer Lead

Overview:

The Evergreen ministry has since its establishment in May 2005 been undergirded by prayer. Evergreen has appreciated and valued highly the faithful prayers of local saints who lift up the work of Evergreen in supporting our senior Saints and citizens in the locality with meaningful interventions and supports. The Evergreen Volunteer Prayer Lead is a key part in leading our prayer network which has members across the British Isles and overseas too. We are looking for a person who has a heart for prayer and a heart for the older adult who would like to Lead our prayer network giving thanks, and raising our petitions.


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Each Monday a weekly email update is sent out to those who wish to join our prayer network and pray regularly for the work of Evergreen, those who serve and those who we serve and their families.
  • Communicating with Evergreen Leadership to ascertain prayer points for weekly update.
  • The Volunteer Lead would be responsible for creating a quarterly roster for those who prepare the updates, and arranging a prayer breakfast for those who can attend for face to face prayer times as regularly as is agreed.


Training & Support Required:

  

  • Evergreen Induction Training (half day Saturday)
  • Mandatory Online Safeguarding training
  • Regular updates and support from Volunteer Services Manager & Spiritual Director
  • Invitation to attend relevant training courses as and when they are arranged

Volunteer Receptionist

Overview:

We’re currently looking for a warm, welcoming volunteer to join our reception team on Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 12:30pm. We also have opportunities for flexible, ad hoc cover when our regular volunteers or staff are away. As training and settling in take time, we kindly ask for a minimum commitment of six months. If you enjoy being the friendly face of a caring charity and can spare a few hours each week, we’d love to hear from you! 


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Welcome visitors with appointments, ensuring that they sign in and, where appropriate, offers some form of refreshment.
  • Where required take detailed information and attempt to answer the visitor’s enquiries.
  • Contact the appropriate member of staff / service or takes information which will be passed on by email to  relevant member of staff / service.
  • Informs the appropriate staff when a customer has arrived for their appointment and keep the customer informed if they experience a delay.
  • Directs customers to all available literature, leaflets, and current campaigns.
  • To have a good understanding of and up to date knowledge of Evergreen’s services.


Training & Support Required:


  • Online Safeguarding training.
  • GDPR
  • Introduction session to the role of a receptionist - shadow a current receptionist
  • Ongoing Support from the Volunteer Services Manager
  • Mandatory organisational training 


What we're looking for:

  

  • Basic computer skills and at ease using the internet
  • A friendly, polite and professional telephone manner.
  • Desirable qualities:
  • Customer service experience
  • Personal qualities most suited to this role:
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly listening
  • Good communication skills, able to take clear notes to pass onto the advisors
  • Able to work confidentially and be patient, tactful, discreet, and sensitive
  • Able to work reliably in a busy, sometimes hectic environment
  • Able to respond appropriately to different and sometimes challenging situations

Gardening Companion

Overview:

 The purpose of the Garden Companion role is to provide practical help and social interaction to older people, who have no other means of support, enabling them to maintain and enjoy their gardens. This volunteer role only involves light gardening with manual tools and is not a substitute for situations where a paid for gardening service is required. It is about sharing a passion for gardening, friendship and a bit of practical help. It could be a one off session or occasional visits.


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Light gardening, for example this could include, watering plants, maintaining hanging baskets, planting new flowers and shrubs
  • Engaging sociably with the members we support
  • Following Health & Safety guidance – including no use of power tools, electric tools or lawnmowers 
  • Wear protective clothing when required
  • Reporting any concerns or queries to the Volunteer Service Manager
  • Uphold the values of the Evergreen Care Trust


What we're looking for:

  

  • No formal qualifications are required
  • A keen interest in gardening
  • Enjoy working outdoors


Commitment:

Flexible – occasional volunteering one to two hours sessions during ‘growing seasons’ Spring / Summer. Less frequent in Autumn / Winter.
